Six new smartphones to be launched in July 2017

While June saw a number of smartphonelaunches, a number of devices are already lined up for release in July 2017. ET Wealthpicks the most exciting devices to look out for in the next month. 

 Nokia 5

HMD Global announced the launch of Nokia 3, 5 and 6 simultaneously. While the Nokia 3 is already available for purchase, the Nokia 5 will be available in July. Priced at Rs 12,899, the Nokia 5 has a 5.2-inch HD display in an aluminium 6000 series body. It runs stock Android 7.1 on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 processor, 2GB RAM, 16GB storage and a 3,000 mAh battery. 

It has a 13MP rear camera with f2.0 aperture, phase detection autofocus and dual LED flash, and a 8MP selfie shooter on the front. It also has dual SIM slots, a fingerprint scanner, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.1, NFC and expandable storage. 

Gionee 1 plus

Although it was announced alongside the Gionee A1, the Gionee A1 Plus was not launched simultaneously in India. So it is expected to be launched in India soon. The phone has a 6-inch full HD IPS display and runs the latest Android 7.0. It is the company’s first smartphone with a dual camera setup – 13MP + 5MP, but it only records videos in 1080p resolution. 

Like the Gionee A1, the A1 Plus also focuses on selfie lovers with a 20MP front camera. Hardware includes a Helio P25 processor, 4GB RAM, 64GB storage and a 4,550 mAh battery. Other features of the phone are LTE, Wi-Fi N, fingerprint sensor, USB Type-C port and fast battery charging support. 

 Zenfone AR

The Zenfone AR is a flagship device with a 5.7-inch 2k Amoled screen and one of the few phones that support Google Project Tango for augmented reality. Inside is a Snapdragon 821 processor, 6/8GB RAM, 64/128/256GB storage and a 3,300mAh battery. 

Weighing 170 gm, the Zenfone AR features a 23MP camera with 4-axis optical image stabilization, depth and motion tracking sensor, phase detection autofocus. Other features of the smartphone include an 8MP front camera, dual-SIM slots, expandable storage, LTE, Wi-Fi AC, GPS, USB Type-C and fingerprint scanner. 



Moto-E4/E4 plus

Motorola has launched the Moto C and C Plus devices in India as budget phones. The manufacturer intends to move the E4 and E4 Plus to the midrange category. Both devices are powered by Mediatek MT6737 processor, have 16GB internal storage, 5MP front camera with LED flash, fingerprint scanner and run the latest Android 7.1 OS. 

The Moto E4 has a 5-inch HD display, 2GBRAM, 8MP rear camera and a 2,800 mAh battery while the Moto E4 Plus has a 5.5-inch HD display, 3GB RAM, 13MP rear camera and a large 5,000 mAh battery. Other common features include dual SIM slots, expandable storage, and fast battery charging support. 

 Honor 8 pro

Honor 8 Pro is an improved an updated variant of the Honor 8 launched last year. The phone comes with fourth-generation Dual camera system – it has dual 12MP rear camera with f2.2 aperture, phase detection and laser autofocus. Honor 8 Pro features an all-metal unibody design and is extremely slim, at just 7mm. 

It has a 5-inch 2k display protected by Gorilla Glass 3 and runs EmUI 5.1 based on Android Nougat. Hardware specifications include an octa-core Kirin 960 processor, 6GB RAM, 64GB storage and a 4,000 mAh battery. Other features include an 8MP selfie camera, dual SIM slots, expandable storage, Wi-Fi AC, Bluetooth 4.2, NFC, IR port, USB Type-C port and fingerprint scanner. 

 Numbia N2

Nubia is a lesser known brand, but its devices are quite impressive. The N2 is the second phone by the brand in its battery focused N range. It comes with a large 5,000 mAh battery in a metal unibody design. It has a Mediatek MT6750 processor, 4GB RAM and 64GB storage, expandable up to 128GB using a microSD card. 

The phone has a 13MP primary camera with f2.2 aperture and phase detection autofocus, while the front has a 16MP camera with f2.0 aperture for selfies. It has a 5.5-inch IPS display with a resolution of 1280x720 pixels, Wi-Fi AC, LTE, Bluetooth 4.0, dual SIM slots and Nubia UI 4.0 based on Android 6.0.
